10 months on and my speeds have become even worse! Where do I stand?

Quick recap. Issues back end of March-April 2020 that I noticed my speed had dropped from 76mpbs to around 50+. We'd also noticed wifi was impacted and engineer visited. After the first engineer disconnected a wire that resulted in complete downtime for nearly 9 days, the next engineer lied saying it was a faulty component in the box and showed me a circut he said he'd removed that wasn't actually required which was too big to fit in the socket! When I complained BT admitted the first engineer hadn't connected a wire which was found by the 2nd engineer!

After weeks and weeks of testing I was eventually told the service should be back up to normal however my reduced speeds of around 55-56mbps were due to increased traffic in my area. This was something I basically had to accept.

I reluctantly took out a new contract in June 2020 however it came with a guaranteed speed of 52mbps! I appreciate that there's a grey area over this and that it's 'speed into the property/socket' however the last week my speed is between 32-36mbps.

I have been through every test/check imaginable including a few of the guys on here helping me for weeks attempt to get to the bottom of it back last year. Even you guys conceded that it was down to increased traffic.

I have again tested at the socket just to make sure and the best speed there is 36mbps. It's now clear that I'm not getting anywhere near the speed that I'm not only paying for but was guaranteed. I'm actually gutted, I've been with BT for decades & I don't want to leave however it shouldn't be down to me to try and fix this! I also shouldn't have to take out the higher level of Halo to get an adequate service!

In addition to all the issues I've had, I never once thought about any form of compensation however in complaining the person I spoke with basically turned and blurted out 'oh and you won't be entitled to any compensation as Ofcom have said BT don't have to pay due to the pandemic'. I hadn't asked, nor thought about it however I was disgusted by the way this was thrown at me!

So where do I stand? I'm guessing I can either take it up and have them look into it again or I'm within my rights to exit my contract should the speed be as is stated?
