Bt is the provider, problem happened after a power cut which last only a second

Remove the power to the base unit for about a minute, and that should clear the problem which can be caused by a short power loss.
Sorry but no luck the phone is still displaying C have checked batteries they are ok

Has the noise gone away? You may also have to check the date and time is correct.
Hi @JenniferMelvin45 Looking at the user guide it is not C-0 flashing? This means that the date and time needs to be set on the answering machine.
Wow not sure how but it appears to be ok, suddenly it made a strange noise from the base unit and cleared itself, thank you for your help very grateful

A short mains interruption can disrupt the internal software communications. I am pleased its now working.
