Hi,
I posted a series of questions in the copper line forum recently .
I’m currently on standard bband, speed around 3.5, has been up to around 4.5.
I’m on the limit but but its now showing I can get fttc and are offering fibre 1 estimated at 4-8 speed.
what happens if I ‘upgrade’ to this but my speed then drops below 3.5...can I go back to copper?
regards.
If it is within the 14 day period you should be able to go back but given the low speeds I personally wouldn't bother moving to FTTC as it is more susceptible to errors over great distances.
If your Estimated VDSL Speed is only 1mbps faster then I’d hazard a guess the DSLAM is outside the Exchange or very close to it and you are some distance from that, at least 2500m to 3000m.
Depending on the Cable Gauge you could end up being worse off, it might be a little bit Faster but more unstable as VDSL uses a much higher Frequency Range so doesn’t work well over longer distances like ADSL does.
Speed would probably be better - but reliability might be slightly worse. If I were you, I'd stick with ADSL if you're happy with it.
