OK...had another go and this time bingo.
So filter connected to master test socket, hub connected to filter.
Hub wouldn't connect, got flashing orange light for about 10 mins.
Turned off hub, tried again with second filter, the same.
So taken filter out, replaced faceplate and tried as it was originally.
Connected albeit at a slower speed. now:

that is strange as the one place you should get a broadband connection is in the test socket with a filter suggesting either faulty filters, although your tried 2, or something not right with wiring
you have a very high down noise margin as normal is about 6db suggesting scope for faster speed. If you enter your down attenuation you will see avaerage for your attenuation

Right....tomorrow I’ll get a new length of rj11 cable for hub to plate and also a new filter...if the shop isn’t shut due to Covid!
...so if from my stats ‘Line Attenuation: 25.9 / 39.510. Signal Attenuation: 26.2 / 44.311’, which of these figures is my ‘down attenuation’ please?
OK, new cable from HHub to the test socket with the new filter.

I would leave it just now as you have increased speed to 4.3mb
So will my speed test Results start to improve from the 3.5 ish that I’m getting at the mo?
Also, one of my original questions was why apparently is my cabinet not showing FTTC service availability when my neighbour 200m further down the line away from the cabinet shows FTTC services when I check their number and gives a faster speed availability?
thanks.
Very interesting...now when i check availability of services for my number, FTTC is there!
FTTC is available in your area. | |||
Speed | Max | Min | |
DownStream | 8700 | 4700 | |
UpStream | 1200 | 800 |
Also, now checking on BT, it tells me i have the option to upgrade my package to Fibre 1 or fibre 2, both in the 4-8range, min guarantee of 3.
Has someone flicked a switch somewhere?!
I know I'm on the edge of fibre availability but any slight increase in speed would be fantastic.
My current stats are now below. Is there anything in the stats that would suggest i wouldn't get anywhere in the range of 4.7-8.7...4.7 would be good.
