FTTP wifi 6 third party router

Go to solution

Hello,

Im having Fibre 900 installed soon and I'd like to get a third party wifi 6 router.

My question is; will I simply be able to plug this router into the ONT (that BT installs) via the WAN port and be up and running?

- There's no need for a modem in between the ONT and the router right?

Thanks for the help!

Welcome to this user forum.

Yes you can, provided you do not have BT Digital Voice.

You will need to enter the correct login details.

Username bthomehub@btbroadband.com

Password BT

No extra modem needed.

thankyou for the quick response!

Is digital voice an additional extra? Im getting a landline with pay as you go calls etc which I'll never use.

The landline connection needs the BT Smart Hub 2 to work, unless you already have a working landline phone connection on a phone socket.

@Keith_Beddoe

so if I have no plans of plugging a phone in anywhere, it doesn't make a difference?

That is correct. On an FTTP only connection, BT use the Smart Hub 2 to provide the phone connection.
