Full Fibre 100 = 20 Mbps???

Hi,

     I've recently joined BT and I'm already thinking in going back to Virgin Media. I decided to switch as I was paying for 50Mbps Virgin Media package and only getting 25Mbps so I saw the Full Fibre 100Mbps package and I thought .... "That sounds great perfect!".

     Unfortunately, after just a couple of days my BT Internet is slower than Virgin as I'm getting 22Mbps. Also the connection sometimes drops. I've tried setup my BT account to do the speed test with their app but I don't have my account number so I can't register I have asked for it but it'll take 5 days. Now I wish I stayed with Virgin Media.

     Is there a way to get my account number faster rather than waiting for snail mail?

Regards,

Luis

@luismy

Welcome to this user forum.

Use this speed tester.

https://speedtest.btwholesale.com/

This must be run with a direct Ethernet connection to the home hub, as wireless suffers from interference.

Also make sure you turn off Smart Setup on the home hub.

You mentioned about losing connection, do the lights change on the Openreach ONT, when you lose connection?
