I have had to close my account when I moved house because I was going from FTTC to FTTP and the easy option was to open a new account as a new customer and to close my old account, but everytime time I logon to MyBT it defaults to my old closed account, is it possible to get this removed ?

Call BT 0800.800.150 Billing, and they should be able to do that for you.
I did that, they said my account was closed, which it is... but its still showing on MyBT.
They should be able to remove it from showing in your MyBT.

Sorry for the difficulty removing the closed account from your BT ID. Can you please try speaking with my colleague again in the helpdesk? Ask them to remove the old account from your BT ID.
