I have an orange flashing power light and a red flashing broadband light.

I have an orange flashing power light and a red flashing broadband light. If I take out the rj11 lead the phone works, plug it in and it does not.

Home Hub 5 Type A

What is the solution to this?

My area is not down at the moment, so it makes no sense

Possibly a short circuit in the home hub, or a damaged RJ11 lead.

Leave the phone end plugged into the microfilter, but remove the other end going into the home hub, and see if you get dial tone back on the phone.

Hello

This worked

Removing the RJ11 lead from the hub  meant I did get a dial tone on the phone

Then the home hub is faulty, it has an internal short circuit.

You will have to ring BT and ask for a replacement.
