Phones are free from BT with a code, but you'll only get the single stand alone one. If you want the 'home base' type answer phone as well then you'll have to pay for it. Plenty on for sale on eBay for around £20, but still a bit miffed my old answer phone will not longer work and I'm having to buy a new one.

Why would you want to plug it into the back of the router when it's a wifi phone?

Its not wifi, its DECT, the same as cordless phones. You can plug your old base station into the hub rather than pairing new phone to hub if you wish or you can plug in a corded phone.
