No internet when using Ethernet extender/repeater

My internet/wifi is absolutely fine with decent speeds. However when I connect an extender using an Ethernet cable internet connection  to the main hub disappears. Any ideas why?

Thank you for posting and welcome to the Community. By ethernet extender, I take you mean something like this -  Powerline adapters 

If so what type/make are you using? 

What actually happens when you connect them to the Hub? 

Have you tried a different ethernet cable? If the Powerline Adapters aren't able to pair with each other it could be that they are connected to two different electrical circuits in the house.
