Your phone number should not matter, as you simply place the order against your address. There is no guarantee you would keep the same phone number anyway, unless your new provider offers to port it over, and not all providers do that.

Phone numbers are unique to each provider, so you new provider would allocate a phone number from their range.

Re: Postcode and landline number don't match

I am wanting to port my number over. The new provider said they are happy to do that, but are unable to match the phone number/ line with my postcode. I was told only my current current provider which is BT can get that corrected with Openreach in order to release my phone number and get Broadband.

Re: Postcode and landline number don't match

You will have to wait for a moderator to offer help, as I do not know who you would contact in BT.

I cannot see how your BT bill would be correct, as your phone number on your bill, would have to match with your billing address.

I also cannot see how another provider could match your phone number with your address anyway, as they would not have access to BT Retail`s customer database.

Something seems wrong to me.

Re: Postcode and landline number don't match

I am in the process of signing up with a new provider, was simply told phone number does not match with postcode.

I have just called the new provider, I am trying to sign up with. I have been advised to simply request a ORDI (Openreach) from my current provider which is BT.

Re: Postcode and landline number don't match

Hi @Faisal1

Welcome to the Community and thanks for your post!

Sorry to see you're having problems moving your services due to a mix up with your address.  I would normally ask to make sure your address is correct on Royal Mail's website but can see you already checked that from your first post 😊

As your line is currently with ourselves, we will raise the request to Openreach to get the address corrected.  I have sent you a private message with instructions on how you can send us over your details and we'll look into this for you. See: Private messages

Cheers,

Robbie

Re: Postcode and landline number don't match

Similar problem for me - Openreach had wrong postcode against my land line number.  I assume the OP wants to take his/her phone number with him/her, which is what made everything fall flat on its face when I wanted to do the same.  At first, the only solution BT could offer was a new number; this for many reasons was not acceptable to me.

I wish I could offer a solution, but sadly not.  I've managed to get round it (hopefully) on a new order with BT, but coming up 3 months later I still don't have my service switched from PusNet.  Fingers crossed.

I definately think this is a moderator problem.
