Hi,
I am trying to set up the Premium whole home Wi-Fi 4 disc set. Disc 4 is in an outbuilding so connecting it to disc 3 using Ethernet cable. I can’t get this working.
the disc just about connects wirelessly if I have it outside the cabin, but because of the foil insulation it won’t work inside so was hoping the Ethernet connection would be the solution.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
thanks
Thanks... this is very useful for getting it to work at another part of the building. Do you know if I can use a combination of cabling via a switch for 1 disc, and wireless for the others? It unfortunately won’t solve this particular problem. The Ethernet cable is existing and goes from the outbuilding to nowhere near the master disc. So was trying to use a as advertised feature of the premium discs to Ethernet cable between discs 3 and 4 with the rest wireless.
thanks
Sorry, the sum of my knowledge on mesh systems is as close to 0 as it can get.
I just saw that post, remembered seeing yours earlier and put the two together.
Perhaps @lnajr02 , the original author of that solution, can help ?
Well thanks for thinking of me.
And also for tagging the OP, which will hopefully lead to a solution.
Just set up the 4 discs in the same building ,so they are one set. The move one disc to the out building using an ethernet cable from discs 1,2 or 3 not from the hub.
The Ethernet backhaul for this product is completely broken. You will get random disconnections and Wi-Fi backhaul overriding. They have been promising a fix for months but haven’t given us any clear timeframe.
Surely it’s time that we got some support in this from the moderators?
Hi,
thanks for your comment. It sounds like a sensible idea, unfortunately I have already tried it and it wouldn’t reconnect when on the Ethernet.
I saw on another thread that they search for the best connection every few hours. Would it be worth waiting a while? Or is that not the case as it would be powered down to move it?
Unfortunately they have been told to ignore WHP customers.
