Sound like something a lawyer would need to argue

the phrase (BT Broadband customers only) could be interpreted as if you have broadband only or if you have broadband regardless of mobile.

I read it as if you have broadband, then if you opt out you loose the right to use it for any service you have but I see that its certainly not written clearly (well at least for my non legal reading) and you are probably right ?

It does not need a lawyer. 

Access to BTWifi is part of the BTMobile package. It is NOT dependant on the user being a BT Broadband customer. They are two different packages with their own T&Cs.

I have no idea but if he does it will be restored because it is a clear breach of his BT Mobile package and what he is paying for.
