We are having some work done at the house and as the scaffold is
up I thought it would be a good idea to remove the old copper lines as we are now fibre to house.
I spoke to openreach but they said we have 2 lines in and one is active, it’s a number I’ve never heard off! All the wiring in the house is set up for one line and that is the one that has been lives to fibre.
BT say it’s not their number.
how do I find out how to remove this active line?
Try connecting a phone to one of the sockets and dialling 150.
The theory is this should connect you to the provider's helpline! Should be interesting ..... if it works!
Thank you, the issue is we have no lines or sockets set up for that number, just the fibre number that works.

OK, did BT advise you exactly what number the "active line" is supposed to be? If they can see it is active, the chances are they know the number!
No sockets at all suggests someone has removed them all in the past.
Most likely a Stopped Line from when you Ceased your Copper Service.
Or it’s possible a WLR3 Circuit was provided and it just happened to connected to your house.
That’ll be swiftly moved to the property the service is meant for by the Installation Engineer.
