Why can't I get caller display again?

For some years I have had BT Basic with voice mail/privacy/caller display.

About 2 weeks ago I decided to cancel voicemail and use my handset voicemail facility instead - there are occasions when I want to keep some messages for a long time. When voicemail was removed, I also lost caller display, which I require. I have tried to get caller display back again without success. I even went to the extent of asking for an upgrade to a non-basic calling plan via your 150 number. But your helpful operator found that after entering all my details there was no option to add caller display to the plan. So I did not proceed.

What is the problem with caller display?

Hugh, caller display is now active.

It puzzles me that I had to come here to achieve a satisfactory result.
