Re: Meet our next generation Smart Hub 3

You probably won't get one if you already have a SH2 unless you upgrade or recontract , and even then that's not a given.

Yes the EE smart hub is totally compatible and literally plug and play.

The quickest way to get your hands on one is from Ebay where they're currently available for around £75.

Given that the BT SH3's internals are exactly the same as the equivalent EE router I personally would go for the EE smart router which is around £20 on Ebay

Re: Meet our next generation Smart Hub 3

You need the Smart hub 6 plus.

Or the next level wifi 7 Smart hub 7 plus

Both readily available on ebay

Exercise caution if you are on FTTC rather than FTTP though. The WiFi 7 devices do not have an integrated xDSL modem so will only work (without other kit) with FTTP.

For the Smart Hub 6 Plus, the SH30A and SH31B models will work with FTTC however, the SH32B model will not (again, without a separate modem).

Re: Meet our next generation Smart Hub 3

All these posts stating to buy a new router of dubious provenance online are not much help when I also need to replace my black extender discs. I just want to get the equipment a new customer would get on my Halo 3 deal.

So I have just received an offer to recontract that actually reduces my bill. Of course it doesn’t offer to upgrade my equipment. So I think I will need to phone them up to haggle for that deal plus replacement equipment.

Re: Meet our next generation Smart Hub 3

Good luck with the haggle but, if you already have a SH2 plus black extender disks I wouldn't be too optimistic that you'll get BT to supply you with an SH3 and new extender disks.
I don't know for sure, but I suspect the new BT Smarthub 3 WILL work with existing black extender disks, but the downside might be these disks working only in WiFi 5, thus nullifying the WiFi 6 or 7 output from the SH3.

Re: Meet our next generation Smart Hub 3

I tried that on Monday with a recontract. Was promised a call back in 2 days after training on SH3. Still waiting..............

Quite simply it is a deal breaker. The deal they have offered is only £5 off my current price for my Existing Halo 3 deal which includes the extender discs. It doesn’t come near what a new customer is offered.

So if they want to keep me, new equipment please. They want me to recontract for a 2 year stretch so why shouldn’t I get what a new customer gets for the same length contract?

Otherwise I am off to Plusnet and I’ll buy my own WiFi 7 mesh system.
