Virgin with BT Whole home discs

Hello

I have Virgin Media broadband and use 6 BT mini discs to take Wi-Fi around my home.

The kids bedrooms seem slow so I was wondering

Can I take a cable from my router and run it into my loft then use Netgear 5 port gigabit network switch to run to the discs in each of the 4 bedrooms.

Will this work?

Thanks Tony

@abmunro

Welcome to this user forum for BT Retail phone and broadband customers.

It would be best to give the WHW product helpdesk a call on 0808 100 6116 ( Mon to Fri 9am to 5.30pm and Sat 9am to 2pm) or drop them an email to: btconnectedhome@bt.com and they'll be happy to help.

Re: Virgin with BT Whole home discs

My guess is yes, you can.

Effectively you would be connecting all six discs directly to the hub which, according to BT Whole Home Wi-Fi FAQs - Set-up and installation | BT Help is permissible.

"Can I connect more than one disc to my hub (router) using the Ethernet cables?

If you're using Whole Home Wi-Fi or Mini Whole Home Wi-Fi, you can. If you wish, you can locate a disc a long distance from your hub (router)"

Re: Virgin with BT Whole home discs

While it should work, you may be supplying too much WiFi.  It's worth testing but unless the house has solid granite walls, you'll probably get better performance using fewer discs!

I only learn by making mistakes and owning up to them - boy do I learn a lot!
