I'm not sure but I think I might have sussed my problem.
I go outside and look up at the dropwires from the pole. Every single one is thick and dark black and mine looks over 40 years old - thin and grey and looks a right mess where it attaches to the eaves. There's a black "tablet" attached between where it attaches and where it goes into my house and that looks deterioated/cracked.
I wonder if that's my problem as the weather had affected my broadband in the past?
