BT Smart Hub 2 rebooting question

So I'd like to see using the event log, how often my SH2 has been rebooting itself, and if I discover it is within normal behaviour, if there's a way to instruct it to do so, at a time when I'm not streaming live sport, ie the middle of the night.

So what should I be looking for?

(Full Fibre 500)

Thanks.

Re: BT Smart Hub 2 rebooting question

I don’t think it does reboot on FTTP.

I’ve just been upgraded to FTTP and I’ve yet to see a reboot.  On the old DSL it used to reboot every 14 days, regular as clockwork.  I don’t think you can set a schedule on that.

Of course, if it is rebooting every 14 days, just get into the habit of restarting it every Sunday night before you go to bed.  I found that pre-empting the 14 day limit reset the automated schedule.

Re: BT Smart Hub 2 rebooting question

It's rebooting for sure (?), I've seen it colour cycle during the day. Just wish I knew how often. Googled it and the strings it mentions to look for (after exporting the log to a csv file), aren't there.

Re: BT Smart Hub 2 rebooting question

Mmmm....It's not beyond the bounds of possibility that a fault is causing the connection to drop intermittently.  Or it could be the power supply on it's last legs.

I've only been on FTTP for about 5-6 weeks myself.  I've not seen it reset.  I did a reset myself recently, (for a change I'd made), but it's been going for 11 days now without a reset.

Re: BT Smart Hub 2 rebooting question

Looks like it's the normal 14 day thing...

(reason: SAAF)

I'll try as you suggest and do a manual reset periodically.  Wouldn't you think they'd do it overnight.

Re: BT Smart Hub 2 rebooting question

It's only 'normal' for some folks. I've never had it for example.

Re: BT Smart Hub 2 rebooting question

On FTTC mine always did.  I've never looked into it but I rather got the impression it reboots when traffic levels drop below a certain threshold.  I have Spotify on continuously and I suspect that may have been enough to put it off.  Very often it would reboot as soon as it was turned off.

@joepineapples

You are the first poster I can remember seeing who has FTTP and a problem with 14 day hub rebooting

@imjolly  I like to buck the trend 😁.  To be honest, I'm just glad there's a pattern to it.

Just to confirm, ALL reboots, regardless of reason, are logged with the text 'system restart' ?.
