I have full fibre halo3, which I pay for 900 Mbps, with a guarantee of 450 Mbps, yet when I check the spped with fast.com or any other speed check site, it comes back as 230 Mbps or thereabouts, when I use the b.t. speed checker, it comes back as 928 Mbps! . I have checked with the b.t. checker using my mobile, and also with a laptop plugged into the router via ethernet cable, both give 928! I do get buffering on the t.v. when on BBC iPlayer, so is my speed 928 or 230? How do I know who is right?
An expert from the community may respond soon. But meanwhile the discrepancy is probably because the bt speed checker site checks the speed to your hub. While other speed check sites check to the device that you started the test on. I find that if I do a speed test through MyBT the result shows speed to the hub and then speed to the device that I used to action the test.
Which ever speed you take it’s very odd that you’re getting buffering on iPlayer. A handful of Mbps should be fine.
