Broadband speed

Hi,

I`ve just signed up for Fibre 1 broadband, the chap who came to the door said that the speed would be 50 megabytes not 50 megabits, even converted it to what it would be if it were measured in megabits (400). The lady who phoned from BT to take details also said it would be 50 megabytes but the emails ive received since are all saying 50 megabits. The speeds on the website also says megabits.

Which one is it?

Thankyou, just had another canvasser at the door who also said it will be 50megabits, was looking forward to a big jump in speed when in reality i`ll be getting half of what i have now.😪
