EE WI-FI X

I recently noticed EE WI-FI -X  in my list of local connections and was not sure what it was so mr google found this.

EE WiFi X is essentially the rebranded version of the old BT WiFi X network, but it is now designate...

I  am curious as to what this is as it says for engineering use only.
Their are 2 telegraph posts outside my home with new broadband wires and a box on each.
Is their something on the box that allows engineers to check if the connections are working as they should and is that what i am detecting. The local exchange is a mile from my home.

Re: EE WI-FI X

BTWifi-x was the same as BTWifi but it allowed Apple user to connect because they had problems connecting to BTWifi because of Apple devices security settings.
