FTTC contract ends in November but FTTP not yet available

Go to solution

Hi

Our BT Fibre contract ends in November and Openreach's FTTP checker states that FTTP is being built in the next year.

We're connected to the Sawston exchange and already have Digital Voice.

Will we need to carry on with FTTC in November - is it still available to order?

Thanks

Paul

Yes, if FTTP isn't available.

There seems to be a lot misunderstanding that the copper network is closing down in the imminent future. It isn't at won't be for a very long time.

Yes, you just recontract as you are and when FTTP is available later you just upgrade although it will mean a new contract. Price would be the same unless you go for a greater speed or go for the useless Halo option.

Yes, this has largely been caused by media reporters reporting critically on the switch to DV saying "BT is ripping out all the old copper telephone lines".
