@gillyallan Just so you are aware, router settings on third party routers are generally far more configurable than ISP routers so you can prioritise clients.
The SH2 router is undoubtedly fine for the vast majority of customers but there are those of us who won’t use ISP routers for our own particular reasons.
Yes, I almost mentioned that myself, but two points:
Firstly, if you are on Digital Voice (DV) the phone has to be plugged into the Smart Hub 2 (SH2), as DV is a proprietary system & doesn't work with third-party routers, even if they have a phone port. There are ways of using the SH2 for DV and then passing all other traffic to your own router however. There are many posts on here about that already.
Secondly, QoS (Quality Of Service) is better in theory than practice in my experience but that might just be my view. Perhaps it's improved. I haven't use QoS for years.
