Hub 3 capabilities

Go to solution

After 20 years I am moving from PlusNet as they are withdrawing their home phone offering.

I am considering BT fibre 300 with DV. I have managed to glean enough answers to safisfy my queries on DV but would like some feedback on the supplied hub (Smart Hub 3 ?) as follows:

Is there documentation available for the router ?
If not:
Can I set static IPs ?
Can I limit the DHCP pool ?
Can I have a separate guest account ?
Do BT utilise the TR_069 protocol ? (have had bad experiences with this in the past)

Ideally I would like to use my current router (TP Link) but I know that to use DV I have to use the BT hub. I want a 'one stop shop' should anything go wrong so using an alternative DV provider is a no go.

I have seen on this site very good posts on how to link my own router to the hub but, if the above answers are okay, I would prefer not to go down that route.

Thank you in advance

You can't set static IPs on any router, that is a function of individual devices. If, however, you mean address reservation, then yes it supports it.

Can I limit the DHCP pool ?

Yes
Can I have a separate guest account ?

No

Yes, t is how they update the hub firmware.

There is a "guest" wifii account available in the management section. It is off by default.

Oops, sorry, my mistake. Yes it does have a guest network.
