VoIP is still used. In fact all the CP’s are in the process of replacing the old Voice Service with it and plan to have everyone converted by 2027.
What you’re thinking of is the FVA, Fibre Voice Access Service Openreach ceased a few years ago.
FVA and VoIP are completely separate things. FVA didn’t require a Broadband Line and or Router to work.
