My contract is due to renew a few weeks (FTTC) Fibre 1
Full fibre is currently in the process of being installed from the JB's into the properties by Openreach
I have been offered by BT the option of remaining "out of contract" at my current price which I believe includes a "free upgrade" to 100mb when the fibre box is installed.
Or calling to sign up a new contract
Seems a bit too good to be true as I'm happy enough with the 50/60mb that I currently receive so a boost in speed would be a nice bonus
What does the panel think ?

If it's true then it's a no brainer . But I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for openreach
If you do not renew your Fixed Term Contract it will just roll onto a 30 day contract. Normally you would lose any discounts that you have for being in a fixed term contract.
If you have it in writing that BT will not increase the price by removing any discounts that you have for being out of contract and that they would give you a "free upgrade" to 100mbps at the same price then there is nothing to lose by not renewing to a Fixed Term Contract at this time.
If you do not have it in writing I suspect however that it is a sales pitch with a catch as there is no such thing as a free lunch.
Your interpretation " the option of remaining "out of contract" at my current price which I believe includes a "free upgrade" to 100mb when the fibre box is installed" seems to be different from what the email states.
Please keep us updated when you have called BT.
You will continue at the current full price, ie without any discounts you have or will receive if you re contract. BT will not give you a discount price such as you have now without being in a Fixed Term Contract.
BT offer all customers a free move to FTTP when available but only if you are in a Fixed Term Contract. You are presently in a contract so that is why they say you do not need to do anything. It is not saying let your contract run out and we will give you the same deals as though you are in a contract.
Phone BT and ask if keep same dicounted price and free move to FTTP applies when out of contract or would it require you to take out a new contract.
Please post back the answer.
This is what I was sent by BT, looks pretty clear to me.
so basically remain out of contract
