Hi All, My 900Mbs BT fibre install was completed 24 hours ago but the highest speed I've managed to achieve so far via one of the ethernet ports on my SH2 is around 500Mbs (although today I'm achieving only 200).
I'm a telecoms engineer (not FTTP though) so I'm pretty sure I'm not missing anything obvious. Laptop interface negotiates at 1Gps through a new 2m Cat6 cable to the hub. No VPN in use. No other users at the time of testing. Have tried a different laptop.
Weirdly, most of the times that I run the speed test from the My BT app, it tells me that the speed is in the 900 range.
Can anyone suggest a solution please?
Thanks

What speed do you get if you connect the laptop directly to the ONT with a PPPoE session?
Are you using the BT supplied cable between ONT & Hub?
If so have you tried another Cat 5e or better cable?
I believe SH2s come with two ethernet cables in the box, so you should have a spare to try. Likewise changing the cable between SH2 & laptop.
Hi - Just tried PPPOE direct to ONT and I only get 250Mbs
I'm using the supplied cable with red RJ45 connectors between ONT and Hub. It was the only cable in the box. Cable between SH and laptop has been swapped.
Make sure you are not uploading anything in the background, as that can affect your download speed. Things like Cloud storage updating can slow download speeds.
@licquorice 250Mbs
For anyone else reading this in the same position - After 24hrs there was no change but after 48hrs it'd sorted itself out and the speed went up to 970Mbs.
Our full fibre 500 was upgraded to full fibre 900 today & the order shows it as complete.
The 900 speeds are more or less the same as the 500 speeds but my understanding is that it can take a day or so to kick in as yours have shown.
It's possible that the OR team in India have signed it off as complete when it actually isn't as yet.
Anyway, apart from the fun of seeing 900 show on a speed tester it won't make any noticeable difference to how things perform.
