Do I need to apply/sign up or do I just be patient and wait until the next stage of installation, from the pole to my home?
Solved! Go to Solution.
If your area now has Openreach FTTP , ( the new equipment on the pole you presume signifies this availability ) then you apply to have it connected, either by being proactive ( you calling BT ) or when re-contracting and being advised that it’s a condition of the new contract , if you do nothing , nothing will happen.
Its possible that in the future ( maybe 5-10 years ) that BT customers will be told, move to FTTP or lose your existing service, but that’s way off , in the meantime, if you want FTTP you will need to ask for it .
The period from having the CBT installed on the pole and the service being available to order can vary , and there needs to be testing commissioning once the optical path is completed, the ‘downstream’ optical path to the Aggregation Node may or may not be complete …individual ISP will have no knowledge of this , period , from their point of view it’s either available to order or it isn’t , and they don’t know if it will be available in a week , a month or months , best to keep checking yourself.
