Upgraded to 900mbps but only upload speed have changed.

Just recently upgraded to 900mbps however after a few hours only my upload speed changed my downloads stayed at 400-500mbps.

@Lucas-Amorim  How exactly are you measuring the download speed? Ethernet cable or over WiFi?

If you connect a Ethernet cable from your router to the device you are using the speed tester on, then if it's showing 900mbps or thereabouts at the router via the cable, you're getting your advertised speed. If you're attempting to measure the speed via WiFi, then you could literally be sat right next to the router and get lower speeds.

Just so others are aware, it's perfectly possible to connect a Ethernet cable through a Ethernet adapter with a lightening connection to a mobile phone or laptop device without a standard Ethernet connection. Most recent laptops for example no longer have a Ethernet port and so an adapter must be used. I use the same thing when connecting my iPhone via Ethernet cable directly into my router.

Let me guess - you have a Smarthub 2 and were testing over WiFi?

You won’t get any more than 500Mbps to most devices around the home from a Smarthub 2.

Wow when I endured the SH2 I would have loved 500mbps...best I ever got was around the 200mbps mark

Yup, bin the SH2 and use something decent, not tech that was designed and released 8 years ago. Though to be fair, the SH2 will be adequate for probably most users, just not for those of us who demand something more.

Sorry for the long wait I got into contact with BT customer service and a lovely lady managed to get it fixed for me thanks everyone

I first did it over wifi, i was not using SH2 that thing is just terrible. then I tried cable and it gave me the same or worse, after contacting BT they made it to work.

It would be interesting if you could describe HOW the "lovely lady" got it fixed.
Did she just advise you to test your speed using an ethernet cable connection, or did she make some change to your account that upped your speed, or was a technician dispatched to your house to make some sort of adjustment? Or something else entirely?

I did have to plug in the SH2 so that they could see that my internet speed was low after that she went and spoke to someone told me to wait 48 hours and bam full speed. So I dont know what they did to fix but im glad it got fixed.
