Upload speed saga

Recently had upload speed drop from around 4mps to almost zero. Download has been steady at around 18mps. Sent new modem to see if that is the problem. No difference. Engineer came today reset brand new modem using pinhole reset. Tells me the cache probably needed clearing even though use only for 48 hours. Showed me the read on his tablet of 8mps upload. A speed I have never had in 15 years. Me happy. He leaves. I do speed test. Upload still near zero. Any ideas? I have used ethernet connection on test. No difference. Have I been had?

Re: Upload speed saga

there is a problem with your connection as your attainable for both up/down is far higher than your actual connection speed.  provided you have not moved to digital voice can you try dialling 17070 option 2  it should be silent with no crackle.  have you tried using the test socket with a filter to see if that improves connection speeds?

Re: Upload speed saga

Thanks for that. I have moved to digital voice. The d/l speeds I get are what BT promised me I would and what they quoted me in my contract (now run out) Not the upload though. Open reach are looking at the fault tomorrow (allegedly). Although the website is helpfully telling me that I have told them it is fixed, which I have not. Honestly.Their repairs system is **bleep**.

Re: Upload speed saga

Here is the quote from the 2023 renewal. It has now expired. They have now reduced the minimum to 15mps.IMG_1994.jpeg
