Previous owner of the house I've moved into thought the middle of the dining room was best, sigh.
Tried going through bt tech support, but just end up in a loop where I get cut off and sent texts to test the line.
Just for clarification, are you a BT customer ?.
Sorry should have said, yes BT customer.
Both replies useful, just need to know who to contact, cost is acceptable, can't use an extender kit as there's no route upstairs.

I am sorry for the problems getting in touch to arrange to move your ONT. The number for the helpdesk is 0330 1234 150. We are extremely busy at present and it'll take us a few days to get round to picking up your case. Do you want to try my colleague to see if you can get this arranged? This would be quicker than having to wait the extra days for us.
