Re: Cancel mobile

@Arryz

Effectively, what it means is, you have to give 30 days notice of cancellation to BT. You cannot do that without calling them as previously advised. It’s probably designed that way to make your life as difficult as possible so that they can try and retain you. Call them and tell them you want to cancel, no ifs no buts.

Ok I give you two options,  one was PAC the other is STAC..this stands for

Srevice Termination Authorisation Code.

These systems were put in place to make switching and cancelling easier.

May I again suggest you at least try them

With respect, you might be clutching straws suggesting the STAC option as I believe it can only be used when switching provider and you don’t want to keep your old number. I’m not so sure you can just request a STAC to terminate a contract completely.

If it were me, I’d probably just get a free SIM card and Port out the BT number to it thereby switching and closing the BT account. The old BT phone number then goes to a throwaway SIM that you either activate by putting a top up on it, or you do nothing with it and eventually it just expires.

My god Kimbo that's actually a really cunning plan...more cunning then a fox who's been appointed professor of cunning at Oxford University

You're very nearly but not quite as sarcastic as me 😂

To be fair, I sim swap on mobiles frequently chasing really cheap monthly deals, so I get 10GB of data month with EU roaming and all that jazz for £1.30 a month for 6 months and then I just do it again. I probably never pay more than 20 quid a year to have a minium of 10gb a month because I'm so tight.

Re: Cancel mobile

@Arryz

If you decide to call BT in order to cancel your mobile contract, you do not need to enter into any dialogue about being retained as a customer.

Just inform the Customer Service Rep that you are calling to terminate your mobile contract and that you do not want a PAC or STAC. and that you are giving them the obligatory 30 days notice starting on the date you call.

Other than possibly giving you information regarding any termination fees if you are still in contract or being billed for any usage during the thirty day period that should be all there is to the call.

If they do try to retain your business just tell them that you are not interested.

Well I'm not entirely sure that applies to me, I'm as thick as two bags of flour with a breeze block stuffed in the middle.

If you do phone and speak to a representative make sure everything that's agreed/promised is confirmed in writing by email.

Sadly call centre staff say one thing and often do another
