Mobile rip off

On holiday in Sheringham BT mobile have put me on maritime network which is classed as roaming costs a fortune.

Rang the helpline they thought I was on a cruise no help at all wanted to send EE Sims. Will have a huge bill this month

Turn off mobile roaming because you've connected to a passing ship from the sounds of it ..

@Malk1 if it held it's connection, it's probably a ship or yacht at anchor somewhere just off the coast...

They don’t have to be in sight, while in Dover I kept connecting to France.

@Malk1 they don't need to be in sight. Weather/atmospheric conditions can cause radio signals to travel further than usual... You'll also have no buildings in between causing obstacles and obstructions..

Did you not get notification on mobile at outset advising the network your phone was connected to just like you  get when you go abroad?

Re: Mobile rip off

So there is no rip off by BT just you didn't understand when your mobile advised you it was connecting to maritime and the higher call costs associated with connecting to maritime
