I've been trying to create and activate my BT ID but getting technical issues massage and to try again later. I ordered broadband today and have the account number. Therefore I can't login to follow my order. Thank you.

It may be that the order has not been fully activated yet. I would try again in the morning and if you are still having issues post back.
Meanwhile make sure you have followed the steps as per this link.
