I'm on halo 250mb.i jst upgrade to halo250 from halo 100 3 months ago,im paying £48.99 per month but now there saying that prices have went up by 9% in April and my price has went up to £53.54,thats nearly £5 increase, surely that aint right
It is correct, all contracts now include an annual rise of CPI + 3.9% on the 31st March, re-contracting or changing package doesn't change this.
You will find more detail here: https://www.bt.com/tell-me-more and here: https://newsroom.bt.com/this-years-price-changes/
The increase actually comes to 9.3% and 9.3% of £48.99 is £4.55.
So the calculation is correct but whether it's justified is another matter. I believe that other providers are on the same bandwagon though, and I've just had an email from Netflix notifying a 10% increase (which they call a "change" to avoid the i word).

However in my particular case I still had over 12 month remaining on my broadband contract when I spotted a personal offer in my account about a week ago for the same package as that which I am already on. The price on offer was almost the same as that I was paying before the price increase. Therefore the rise of CPI + 3.9% was negated by the special offer which obviously I took up.
