90% bill increase - FAIR or NOT?

My BT bill in Jan 22 was £60.63. In Jan 24 it will be £115 approx.

Is a 90% increase in 2 years fair?

I know COL has risen but is this BT profiteering? OR I know COL has risen but this is BT profiteering!

Annual price rises would account for 25% (still outrageous), but where has the rest come from?

@Balthazar2

Has your fixed term contract come an end and you have lost all the discounts you had and are now on a rolling monthly contract as per your T&C

Re: 90% bill increase - FAIR or NOT?

@imjolly good point. Hi, @Balthazar2 have any additional services or upgrades been ordered since then, were you possibly paying your line renal upfront for the year, but this is now included in your monthly payment? There has to be an explanation as the annual price increases would not account for the full increase you've mentioned.

If you're out of contract I'd recommend speaking to our value team on 150 as they may be able to help reduce your costs or check the MyBT app for any offers that may help reduce your costs.

Thanks

Neil

Re: 90% bill increase - FAIR or NOT?

I'm going to check myBT and see what's what.

I know I was shafted by BT when they stopped me paying for my line rental up front. That might be a part of it but not that massive percentage!

Only other change has been the move over to Digital Voice process which "jolly clever BT" started in October (!!) and still has not happened. Three emails about this 'new' service due to start and still no change.

Which leaves me unable to change any tarif because I, yes I, have an outstanding order that needs to be completed.

Luckily my job changes next weekend so I can switch to Virgin, Sky, Plusnet, or any old granny broadband bodgit outfit and pay £30 - 40 per month - hooray!

Sorry BT - bye bye

Well adding line rental monthly instead of 12 months in advance would take you to around the £100 mark. Sounds like an awful lot but without knowing what service & extras you have...

The oddly named line rental saver was worth £19.99 off your bill. This would make the cost £80 after removal of the line rental saver.

Re: 90% bill increase - FAIR or NOT?

Good point about delayed digital voice. It will be stopping lots of people changing things  - so we end up in a kind of limbo waiting for digital voice. It was at the end of October when BT said it was going to start moving London over and has had public meetings in November and Dec. I was invited to 2 of them but did not go.
