I am fuming. Why can you not cancel a contract ONLINE!? Why do you have to waste time calling BT to do something that should be as simple as pressing 'cancel' online?

What is the email address for Allison Kirkby's PA? I have her email address but I want her PA to get it too.

Re: Angry

Simple answer as to why is because they can. Obviously it's in their interest to have the opportunity to talk you out of it & possibly offer a deal to stay. Sadly like many large corporates, actually providing enough properly trained staff to take your call is seen as an unnecessary expense by the bean counters.

This forum doesn't allow the publication of BT management email addresses.

Re: Angry

Many , possibly the majority of people wanting to ‘cancel’ , are not actually cancelling but switching between providers, the process mandated by Ofcom process that is GPL ( gaining provider led ) , and with the  proliferation of Alt Net , a new , soon to be introduced replacement, the so called ‘one touch’ system, the consumer only needs to contact the new provider, ‘cancelling’ ( more accurately , serving notice ) to the old provider is done by the new provider not the consumer, so having a ‘button’ to simply cancel could mess up this process ….finally why the anger, if you were not a BT customer, but a customer of pretty much every other communication provider you also require you to call , it’s industry wide , there is no ‘on line cancellation ‘

If you are actually cancelling your service, for example moving into a retirement home where individuals don’t have their own internet access , then it is a cancellation not migration, but as stated BT are no different to anyone else in requiring you to call .

Re: Angry

Hi @blindedfish   I believe it is so they can confirm that you are the account holder and not somebody malicious like an ex-partner that knows the logon details.
