BT FTTC ends, end of February

Will be looking at all my options nearer the time but how soon can I phone BT and try and get a similar deal to what I got lest time for FFTC. Dont need Halo 3+ and cost for that seems dear anyway and currently on pay and go for calls. As I rarely now use landline to make calls.

Also been looking at moving elsewhere if I dont get a good deal from BT. As been told by two others that I may get a better deal elsewhere. Have looked at Sky and Vodafone in the last few weeks.

Would I also be moved over to a digital phone line if I stay with BT or move to another ISP.

Openreach FTTP is also due to come to my area in the first half of next year. As its on the Openreach list for one of the towns due to be upgraded to FTTP and a few new phone polls was put up in my area last month.

Re: BT FTTC ends, end of February

My opinion would be If you're thinking of changing to FTTP I’d suggest not locking yourself into another long contract to keep your options open once it becomes available.

As for the question how soon to make contact to re-contract if you decide... I'd suggest leaving it up to 4-6 weeks before it expires. DV will be required if you wish to keep a landland with BT under a new FTTP provision.

Re: BT FTTC ends, end of February

Given my experience of attempted renewals over the years with BT, I wouldn't even bother. My contract ends in six weeks & you may recall my thread from June where they were possibly offering a discount of £2 pm. Never did get to the bottom of the contradictory T&Cs on that one. Since then the closer I get to the end, the lower the offers get. I can currently renew for another two years for the same £27.39 pm I'm paying for Fibre 2. I've already confirmed that I can move to the equivalent package with another BT company for a shade over £20 pm once cashback is figured in. That's on a shorter contract too.

I've already switched my mobile contract to a cheaper deal with more data & retained WiFi Calling, so have nothing tying me to BT beyond pricing. So my intention is to place an order to switch, then maybe give BT once chance to better it. But I certainly won't be sitting on the phone for hours trying.

IIRC you've already ditched BT TV so have nothing tying you either. I'd expect by now that you too have a renewal offer when you log onto MyBT but also probably equally paltry. No harm looking though.

Re: BT FTTC ends, end of February

Thanks for your replay. Yes I had been thinking of getting FTTP when it comes to my area in first half  of next year.

Will have a think about what I going to do come end of January but if I dont get a good with BT will look at moving.

I had guessed a digital phone line may come with FTTP.

Just wondered if a digital phone line also came with a re new of my FTTC with BT or any other company.

Re: BT FTTC ends, end of February

@rbz5416 Yes I got a renewal offer other week for some as what I paying the now. FTTC2 at

yes you right I ditched BT just over 6 months ago and get all direct from Now with discounts.

Two other people I have been talking too say I may get a better deal elsewhere come nearer the time.

I not fully decided if I want to stay with BT but may look elsewhere at other deals but I do know depending on price I would want to upgrade to one of the Openreach FTTP packages when it comes to my area in the first half of next year.

Re: BT FTTC ends, end of February

One route you could explore is this since from what I understand you just need something to keep you going until FTTP becomes available early next year:

1. Go with 4G Mobile Broadband with a mobile provider who has a signal in your area on a short/rolling contract of some sort.

2. Keep checking the Openreach checker for the status of "FTTP is available".

3. Recheck with BT/etc when FTTP is available for a good FTTP product and price and sign up for Broadband then.

That way you keep your flexibility to sign up for FTTP as a new customer.

Re: BT FTTC ends, end of February

4g mobile internet is not always reliable.  Plus dont know if 4g mobile internet will be able to handle the 6 or 7 devices I got connected via wifi.

In peak times even 4g on o2 on my iPhone can come sometimes be a little slow in my area when im out.

I do agree about not wanting a long term contract if I thinking of moving to Openreach FTTP in the first half of next year when it comes to my area.
