BT or EE Stick or Twist

We are currently on BT 500 Full Fibre with Halo 3+ for £72.99. Out of contract end of October.

I have bought a TP Link Extender which I have swapped with the BT Disc, to check that it will do the job of boosting my wifi in the office before deciding on dropping Halo.  The BT Disc goes to about 400 and the TP to 380 good enough for me.

Best offer from EE is 500 Full Fibre £54.99.  They refuse to come anywhere close to their  new customer offers, as we are not and never will be a new customer if we stay in the BT family.  I am not sure if Plusnet is the same needs investigating.

Husband does have EE Mobile with unlimited data so we would have that as a back up. 

My question is what, if any, are the benefits of moving to EE apart from keeping our 8 email addresses  and dropping Halo ?

if you move to Plusnet you will be treated as new customer and get any incentive offered provided you do not require a home phone as not provided by plusnet.  you would keep email addresses but downgraded to basic so only accessible by using web mail not an app

Agree, if you're going to switch and you want to stay in the BT Group and you don't need a landline or any of that Halo guff, just switch to Plusnet for the new customer deal. It's exactly what I did. When I switch in 7 months time, it will be to EE, so I'll still get a new customer deal.

If you do switch to Plusnet, I'm guessing you'll now get their version of the Smart Hub 3, but don't quote me on that. I have one of their Smart Hub 2's still sat wrapped up in its box unused. My personal advice, just buy your own decent router and dispense with the ISP offering, unless of course you really don't mind not being able to do very much with your router.

If you move to Plusnet your BTMail accounts will be downgraded to a BTMail basic account which can only be used with a web browser and not with email apps or email clients unless you upgrade it to a BT Premium account costing £7.50 per month the cost of which you may need to factor in if you need to use your email with an app or email client.

If we go with Plusnet we will pay for the BT Premium email, I think £7.50 ish per month. 

We had hoped to have had all this sorted by now but our main BT ID was recently hacked which made sorting out a new contract pale into insignificance.
