Broadband upgrade - how long am I likely to wait for the engineer visit?

I placed an order to upgrade to fibre broadband on 24 April. In the order tracker I can see that everything is waiting on an engineer's visit with the following message:

Today, Fri 3 May 2024

Engineer visit - outside your property

Status: Estimated

Our engineers will complete work external to your property

Every day this just seems to be estimated for 'today'. Does anyone know how long it's actually likely to take for my order to progress? Should I be chasing this up by phone?

I haven't had any contact from BT since placing the order – it's not great communication!

@IainA

Welcome to this user forum for BT Retail phone and broadband customers.

BT Retail will be waiting for an update from Openreach. It could take a couple of weeks, or a couple of months, depending on what is involved, and how busy Openreach are.

Re: Broadband upgrade - how long am I likely to wait for the engineer visit?

Is this FTTP ( full fibre ) ? , if it is then there may be considerable work required depending on what type of existing ‘feed’ your property has ,
Enter your address details here

Look for an entry similar to this , post the details , as well as if the FTTP install process is single stage or KCI2 assure

Our records show the following FTTP network service information for these premises:-Single Dwelling Unit Residential UG Feed with no anticipated issues.

Re: Broadband upgrade - how long am I likely to wait for the engineer visit?

You can usually get a good idea of what is needed, by looking at the BT Broadband Availability  page for your address. It should have a line showing FTTP, and how many stages are involved, plus any anticipated issues.

Use the address checker on the page below, and post the results, but edit out your address details first.
