My husband has dementia, can I become the account manager without changing or cancelling his account?

Yes. See link

If you have not already done so you may also want to consider getting Power of Attorney as that can assist in dealing with the BT account and many other things that may crop up in future.

Thank you Distinguished Sage

I should have given you a bit more info about this. We have tried to sign myself up as an account manager. This has been pending for weeks? I am also unsure that even if I get acc. manager status whether I can set up a new contract for us.

We have been out of our contract for at least three years and my husband also set up Sky some years ago for the sport (also out of contract). The satellite signal only seems to work intermittently and we are paying about £400 a month now. I would like to  go over to EE and get rid of Sky. I have a POA but get the impression I would have to pay for and supply another certified paper copy even though the original can be accessed digitally.

Is there a human I can speak to on the phone about this? My husband may be able to answer a few questions.

From a previous post The quickest and simplest way is to email the LPA to: POA@bt.com with information on the relevant BT account so it can be registered. Once processed the POA team will let you know it has been completed

Registering for POA is always going to be the best option as there will be things the Account Manager status would be unable to do but covers most situations
