Hi All,
I’n slightly confused by a recent notification from BT regarding my next bill which is due for payment on the 15th June.
I cancelled my BT services last month which are due to end on the 16th June. Looking at the billing date I’m paid up till the 7th with 9 days service to pay for on a final bill.
However this looks as if BT expect me to pay for another month and then they’ll refund me back? Is that correct? As that just seems outrageous!
Why would they not just send me a final bill for 9 days service to pay?
Thanks in Advance!
Hi @ohsohollz welcome to the community and thanks for posting. If your normal monthly bill has been produced before your service end date then it will charge rental in advance as it would normally do so. A final bill is produced after your services have stopped and any refund due for rental will be automatically refunded back.
It's possible for customers to amend or cancel orders before they're fulfilled. So if any changes are made or the order is cancelled then the previous bill will not be correct, this is why the billing is not adjusted until after the order completes.
Thanks
Neil
Same for me stopped tv and broadband today 29th May, paid to 24th May so 5 days due though bill is to 23rd June due tomorrow 31st. £112 stopped direct debit. So question is will final bill be adjusted to 5 days or will BT chase for the 30days £112 ?
lesson for others if ceasing contract, do so 30 days before your next bill, so there is no overlap.
been a good customer for 15 years+ nice gesture would be to write of the 5 days.
You will be billed for the five days. If you are billed for the full month you will be refunded back to the method you paid by.
You should not have cancelled your Direct Debit until you received your final bill. If BT can not take the money because you have cancelled the DD you will be in default.
Just to come back on my original post. I did just cancel my Direct Debit and paid BT the day after my contract ended what I actually owed. Didn’t have any issues with this process. In the end I paid them exactly what I owed for the services received.
Thanks for confirming Ohso I only plan to pay the 5 days I owe, although d/d is cancelled I use the My BT app and can pay the bill on that by card, which I will do when they bill me for just the 5 days, paying 30 days to get 25 days refunded benefits BT but disadvantages me.
