House Move

Would welcome any advice. Moving home.currently have full fibre.  New house doesn’t. Speed will suffer. That’s just a fact of life.
I accept I have 12 months of my contract left.
I can leave and pay cancellation charges or stay.
inclined to stay because Fibre to premises is just not an option.
Here is my concern. BT are telling me that I need to start a new contract for a minimum of two years. I don’t see why. I accept I need to move to a lower level service for the remaining term but a new contract?
Any thoughts

Re: House Move

Any change of package comes with a new minimum term, you're moving from FTTP to FTTC, it's a different product.
The existing contract you have is for the services at your current address, you've broken that contract by moving, I'm sure you have reasons which are personal to you and no explanation needed.

How you proceed is your choice, terminate or renew, I hope your move goes smoothly though, moving house is never fun.
