House move

Go to solution

Apologies if posted in the wrong place.

I am supposedly moving home on Monday 18th (3 days from now).

It's been a complicated journey but everything is signed so now it's just a matter of waiting for solicitor to give all clear regarding funds to the other party.

I obviously need to move my broadband connection to the new address, but since this has been a far from simple process up to now I'm wondering what happens if I start a move order on from my online account now and then on Monday the move falls through at the last minute.

I really am that paranoid about this at the minute and won't be convinced otherwise until I have the keys in my hand.

Cheers

I doubt you'll be able to complete the home move for your broadband in 3 days (if that is what you are referring to).

Otherwise just ring in and cancel the move before the scheduled date.

That's what I was thinking.

Just curious about what would happen if the move doesn't go ahead.

Hi @andy_3_913 and thanks for moving.

Firstly, best of luck with the house move. I've been there and bought the t-shirt. Fingers crossed everything goes to plan.

@pippincp is right. You can cancel the move if things don't work out.

Cheers

Re: House move

Sorry to bring this up, but I got this in an email today...

I asked for my connection at my current address to be stopped tomorrow, 18th, the day I move.

The email states

  • Your broadband start date is changing from 28-Sep-2023 to 28-Sep-2023.
  • Your broadband service will now stop on 21-Sep-2023.

Does that mean if someone(ie the buyer) moves in after I leave tomorrow they can use my broadband connection?

Not that I'm suggesting they would be up to anything they shouldn't, but I'm not sure I like the sound of them using the connection I'll still be paying for.

Or am I reading this wrong?
