HI
I upgraded to Fibre broadband only last January not realising I would loose my landline because I had said I didn't want digital voice with the new package.
I don't really need a landline but my 92 yr old mother cannot hear me on my mobile very well.
So I called BT yesterday who advised that I would need to upgrade my Halo3 500 package to Halo3 900 to get digital voice at an extra cost of £14.99 per month. This is too much for a couple of calls a month.
Does anyone know a way around this. I would have paid the £5 per month fee for the dv fee.

Sounds like BS to me. Go to MyBT > Your Products & see if you can add it from there.
if you have a broadband only contract then you need to change that to broadband with phone and doubt that will be possible in MYBT
try phoning retention team 08007831401 and see if they can help get broadband and phone contract with DV. if only few calls then probably PAYG is best
The advisor was talking total tosh and just trying it on. DV can be added to any broadband package including FTTC.
That's nonsense. I'll ask the mods to intervene, they will post on here.
Called retentions and got put through to an sales advisor who has repeated exactly what I was told yesterday. He suggested I called my mother using WhatsApp. I will try this method.
It does seem unlikely that adding DV requires a change in broadband speed or the addition of any Halo products , it’s reasonable that it would be a re contracting event , so could start a new minimum term , so if you were ( for example ) 10 month into a 24 month deal , you may start a new 24 months
If the number is unimportant ( and TBH after 10 month the chances are you would get a different number to the one you had previously ) you could simply sign up with a traditional VoIP provider ask for a geographical number ( so the same STD code for your area ) and via an ATA ( or by buying a suitable phone with an ATA built in ) make ‘landline’ type calls via your broadband, but this may not necessarily be as straightforward as with BT DV , which just needs you to plug a regular phone into the BT broadband hub socket .
Hi @RichardM2, sorry you couldn't get Digital Voice added to your existing package when you called in.
I've sent you a Private Message so you can get in touch with the Mod team and we'll be in touch in a few days to help you resolve this.
Cheers
John
Hi @RichardM2, thanks for your PM this am to confirm the billing is correct and the digital voice is working great for you when calling your Mother.
Cheers
