Re: Lack of loyalty after contract ended

Why would one touch come into this? We are not swapping from another provider?

@Gamer98

Sorry clumsy wording. Partner would just place an order with BT which would take over the connection without you needing to cancel. This should take place on the same day yours ceases hopefully.

Re: Lack of loyalty after contract ended

If you don't have a landline and are happy with the smart hub2 why not simply join plusnet?

It's £28 for 500mbps with a £130 gift card on the which broadband site

You'll still be getting BT broadband just billed though plusnet

Re: Lack of loyalty after contract ended

"I would stop the cancellation and then sign up in your partners name - in 2 years you can repeat thing and sign up in your name then repeat the sequence when each contract expires."

Is that really possible? Wouldn't BT identify the same address for each partner and treat them both as existing customers?

Re: Lack of loyalty after contract ended

I cannot understand 'stop cancellation' advice.

Surely my partner cannot take over if I do not cancel

@chrisjp

Yes you should be able to do that. There have been many cases when a partner wanted to take over an existing line/account in their partners name by changing the name but have been told they have to start a new contract in their own name.

@Gamer98

Yes your partner can place an order and you should be notified of the change giving you the option to stop it if there  has been an error with the order being incorrectly placed which in your case it hasn't.

Re: Lack of loyalty after contract ended

@conrad as cancellation email has already to come to me, is it not easier to get partner to sign up to new deal?

@Gamer98

Probably - your partner could try it now with an activation date being the same as your cancellation date which may work. If it doesn't try the 21st.  You may have to attempt it daily from now on to try to get the order accepted but this way could minimise your disruption period as leaving to the 20th could mean a few days wait.
