New service

I recently joined BT for phone and broadband. They are installing on Monday, do I need to be at home?

Many thanks

Katie

Re: New service

Depends.

Are you getting Full Fibre, aka FTTP?

If so and there is no existing FTTP Infrastructure at the house then yes, you’ll definitely need to be home as they’ll need to install new equipment both outside and in.

Are you moving to BT from another Supplier either using existing Fibre and Metallic Path?

If yes then they’ll probably just do a Working Line Takeover and if it’s FTTC an Engineer will most likely visit the PCP, aka Green Box.

Or like FTTP even if you’re starting up a brand new service delivered via a Metallic Path it may still require a visit as there maybe no historic record of a line being in.

What does your order confirmation email state? if it has an appointment slot between 8-1pm or 1-6pm then yes, you need to be at home, if it says the activation is on dd/mm/yy and upto midnight, then you don't need to be at home.
