Came across this thread on a search.

When I took my old kit into the local Post Office, when the lovely lady on the counter saw the address, she told me in no uncertain terms to keep the proof of posting safe. She had encountered a customer who fell foul of the recycling centre and was billed for £150.

From the tracking the delivery has been received. How long before they update the status?

Meanwhile I received a text, which required me to send the tracking number if the kit has already been returned. 

HOWEVER, Vodafone flagged the text number as a premium rate text number. I won't break the forum rules by typing my thoughts 🤬🤬🤬 other than no text was sent.  Are BT 'avin a laugh?

At present it can take up to three weeks to update your account but if you call BT Billing 0330.1234.150 with Proof of Postage they can update your account at that time.

The BT Help page expressly points out to keep your Proof of Postage.

The forum recommends that you take a photo of it as you are less likely to loose your phone where as you can easily misplace the paper copy.

It isn't, but you may need to treat your phone/account as though it is. So you need to allow premium texts on the phone & your account must have an out of contract spend limit above zero.

Don't know why BT & others use these short format numbers that are intended for paid content, such as entering competitions. That's why they get flagged/blocked, even if they're actually free.

When I returned my faulty TV box by special delivery I took photos of the box including the serial number. After BT received the box I had an email confirming they had received it.
