Re: Returning kit

The returns number is generated by the Post Office when you post the equipment off, BT have no way of knowing it

Re: Returning kit

This is a BT residential customer to customer forum. Your post does not go to BT. The only BT staff are the forum moderators who do not necessarily read all the posts.

Posting your return number and date on this forum will not be received by the returns department.

You will either need to contact BT Customer Service on 03301234150 who can update your account or if you prefer to wait, it is presently taking four weeks for accounts to be updated after BT have received the returned item(s).

Re: Returning kit

Well, this gets more and more silly! If BT have no idea of the origin of a delivery to them, then BT can never figure out who has returned what kit (unless customers travel to Glasgow to deliver it by hand).

In my own case, the kit was returned the day I received it, unopened and in the original packaging. Presumably, once the kit had been delivered to BT, the person receiving it would have opened it and seen the original packaging, delivery information etc and tallied that up with the delivery. Why it could possibly take 3 weeks to accomplish that is beyond me but I think I may have some idea. The message from gg30340 tells us that BT don't have any deidcated customer support system/staff.

The 2nd paragraph is telling. If posts on this BT forum are not seen by the Returns staff, then how are customers supposed to inform of the dispatch and receipt of their returned kit? Not only that but what exactly is the point of this forum?

So, what prompted me to write again on this forum? My previous post on this topic can be seen here: https://community.bt.com/t5/Bills-Packages/Returning-kit/td-p/2284319. Note in that post I stated that the returned kit had been received by BT (according to the Royal Mail tracking info) on 26th February. This morning, I received yet another annoying BT text stating the kit had not yet been received. Over 5 weeks ago. So much for the blather about "it might take 3 or 4 weeks (today's text specifically states 3 weeks) for BT to notice the kit was back with them. I had assumed these texts were computer generated but then I read today's text again and found this phrase "Please sent it back to avoid a charge". Sent; past tense!

This text was received at 08:34. Checking my email this morning, I was surprised to see an email from BT reminding me that the kit has not yet been returned. Two things about this mail stood out. First was the time it was sent 02:42 and second was the presentation. It was in the form of a BT form and at the top of the form was my account number and post code. Not only that but it began with "Hello K", my initial. So, regardless of what we may see/read here about BT not having any was to correlate returns info, this seems to say otherwise. Happily, the mail included a link to a BT Complaints page.

I have to have some sympathy with the moderators on this forum who seem to be swimming against a tide of BT indifference and incompetence. Good luck to you guys!

2nd attempt to post this. 1st attempt was greeted with a message about invalid html being found in the message body. Said html has been removed but no indication of what was removed, so how am I supposed to correct it?

Re: Returning kit

I am pleased to be able to report that on 7th April, I received an email from BT saying thank you for returning my kit, 5 weeks after I returned it. This seems to have happened without my contacting them with delivery details. So, despite what has been said previously to the effect of "how can they track it if you don't provided your account number, post code etc" it has finally worked. No criticism of any of those moderators who tried to help but there has to be a huge criticism of BT management who apparently can not put in place a couple of quid's worth of an IT system that can take care of these things. I suspect that BT deliberately makes it difficult for customers to get straight to the point when they have issues/complaints.
